17 Nov 2016 - FCC Update P9.0 released.
FCC Update P9.0 includes Roll Command Alerting System (RCAS) for autopilot roll authority saturation and excessive bank angles during manual flight. It also improves the LNAV to LOC transitions.
This update is for Rockwell Collins FCCs only, not Honeywell FCCs.
Collins FCC software P/N 2272-COL-AC1-10 (known as “P9.0” software) – Oct 2016
- New Roll Command Alerting System (RCAS) functionality. This will alert crew of a developing autopilot roll authority limiting condition allowing early crew intervention. The 2 new alerts are displayed in the autopilot status field on the PFD as ROLL/YAW ASYMMETRY at 75% autopilot roll authority saturation or ROLL AUTHORITY at 100% autopilot roll authority saturation. The latter will also have an EGPWS aural “ROLL LEFT” or “ROLL RIGHT”. The system also has an enhanced bank angle warning which also sounds in manual flight if the bank angle exceeds 45 deg or 65deg if pitch >25deg. The system also gives a red roll command arrow on the PFD in addition to the EGPWS aural alert.
