19 Apr 2018 - 9M-LNJ 737-900ER Runway excursion after RTOOn 19 Apr 2018 a Batik Malaysia 737-900ER, 9M-LNJ (38690/4495), aborted its take-off from Runway 20 at Kathmandu-Tribhuvan Airport, Nepal due to a due to a take-off configuration warning, reportedly at high speed (165kts). The aircraft overran the remaining runway and became stuck in the grass 70 meters beyond the runway end. Early reports are that the take-off configuration warning was a spurious/false warning. The photograph of the aircraft after the event (below) appears to show the flaps up but it is still unknown what configuration the aircraft was in during the take-off roll. |
