01 July 2019 - 737-800, VT-AYA (36337/2861) operated by Air India Express has today suffered a runway excursion whilst landing at Mangalore R/W 24 at 17:30L (12:00Z). The aircraft departed the right hand side of the runway and came to a stop abeam the stop end at a drainage ditch. There was no evacuation and the passengers disembarked via stairs with no reported injuries. VOML 301230Z 36007KT 6000 FEW008 SCT012 BKN080 27/24 Q1007 TEMPO 4000 -RA= Runway 24 LDA 2329m, Cat I ILS, 3 deg PAPIs. The Indian DGCA said is a statement in July 2019 that the approach was high speed and unstable and that the aircraft touched down 900m after the threshold giving less than 1500m for stopping. The aircraft was repaired and returned to service 21 Jul 2019.
