6 May 2022 - 737-800, YR-BMM (40871/3212), FF 3/2010 (12 Years old), operated by Blue Air suffered a heavy landing and tailstrike at Naples (LIRN), Italy on 6th May 2022 at 14:03Z. The aircraft landed heavily on Runway 26 at Naples. Photos (below) show significant damage to the underside of the fuselage where ground contact was made and also to the upper fuselage crown from the heavy landing. The aircraft may be written off. The are no reported injuries so far. LIRN 061420Z 24007KT 210V270 9999 SCT040 BKN080 22/08 Q1011 NOSIG= LIRN Runway 06/24. Dimensions: 2628 x 45 meters. Surface: Hard. Naples Runway 24 has a 3.33 deg glideslope with PAPIs and a 1% upsloping runway with a displaced threshold, which can be a tricky combination. |
