01 May 2015 - Will Boeing drop the MAX -7 ?

So far only 56 of the 2715 737 MAX orders are for the MAX-7 and the largest customer, Southwest, is considering converting some of those options into MAX-8's. If this happens could Boeing now cancel the MAX-7 to avoid the certification and development costs of a variant that is never going to pay for itself? Will they learn from the mistakes of the unpopular 737-600 or stick with it to keep the lower capacity RJs etc at bay?
